Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Alternate Realities at alternaterealities.lol (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (the “Terms”) and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Alternate Realities lets you start a cinematic world from a text prompt, a photograph, or a short video, then explore branching scenes by pointing at the frame and choosing what happens next. Generated images and transition videos are stored so a path can be replayed.

The Service is provided as-is and may change, pause, or end at any time. Generation depends on capacity, third-party model providers, and our own infrastructure, and it may be slow, unavailable, or imperfect.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law.

4. No account required

The current Service does not require you to create an account. Worlds you create are stored on our systems and may be listed in the public archive on the site. Do not submit anything you do not want stored or shown.

5. Your content

You retain whatever rights you have in prompts, titles, photos, videos, and other material you submit (“User Content”). You are responsible for User Content and for making sure you have the rights to submit it.

You grant Alternate Realities a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, generate from, publicly display, and otherwise use User Content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the Service, including showing worlds in the public archive and generating child scenes and transition videos. This license lasts for as long as the content remains on the Service and for a reasonable period afterward in backups.

6. Generated output

Scene images, story suggestions, and transition videos produced by the Service (“Generated Output”) are created by automated systems. Output may be inaccurate, unexpected, similar to other users’ results, or inconsistent from visit to visit. Alternate Realities does not guarantee that Generated Output is unique, non-infringing, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Subject to the rights of our model and infrastructure providers and to these Terms, we grant you a license to use Generated Output from worlds you create for personal, non-commercial viewing and sharing of that world through the Service. We may also display Generated Output in the public archive and in our own explanations of the product.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, or content that exploits or endangers minors;
• submit content that infringes others’ intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights;
• upload malware, or attempt to probe, disrupt, or overload the Service;
• bypass usage, generation, or security limits, or access the Service by automated means except ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages;
• use the Service to generate or distribute violent, hateful, or sexually explicit material involving real people without their rights and consent, or any non-consensual intimate imagery;
• impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
• resell, scrape, or bulk-download Generated Output or media except as these Terms allow;
• use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.

We may remove content, disable worlds, or block access if we believe these Terms have been broken.

8. Our rights

Alternate Realities, the Alternate Realities name and mark, the site design, and our software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our brand except as needed to use the Service in the ordinary way.

9. Third-party processing

To generate and store worlds, we send prompts, frames, and clips to infrastructure and model providers acting for us. Analytics providers receive usage data as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except for analytics. Hosting, storage, and generation vendors process information only to provide the Service.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL GENERATED OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT WORLDS OR MEDIA WILL BE PRESERVED FOREVER.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALTERNATE REALITIES AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF TEN U.S. DOLLARS (USD $10) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Some places do not allow certain limitations. In those places, the limits apply to the maximum extent permitted. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such a limit is prohibited.

12. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Alternate Realities and its operators from claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of another person’s rights, except to the extent caused by our own willful misconduct.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access, or remove worlds, at any time including if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (including licenses already exercised, disclaimers, limits on liability, and indemnity) will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date will change, and continued use of the Service after the updated Terms are posted is acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator’s place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that place have exclusive jurisdiction, except that you may bring consumer claims in your home forum if a law that cannot be waived requires it. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
